Thoughts on adding Improvised throwables in Tarkov?

one of the big things about Tarkov is making do with what you have, you can't expect to go in with the best gear every raid. (before you write something obnoxious in the comments shut up Chad no one cares)

especially with the workshop where we can make a lot of our own equipment to take into raids, turning a Semi auto AK into a fully auto one by [REDACTED] or creating our own armor in our Bathroom.

But what about creating improvised grenades?

Now yes I know that we already have the VOG grenades you can craft with a grenade round and fuse, but that still requires you to find a VOG round which now with the grenade launcher in the game, you may prefer saving those for when you can actually find one to use it in that instead of throwing them.

What if we had another craftable grenade type...well actually two but we'll get to the other one later.

First off how about craftable Pipe bombs, these would be extremely improvised grenades with dubious reliability but they would still be better than nothing.

to craft a pipe bomb you would need to combine:
Metal parts
Kite gun powder
Box of nails

at your workbench, worth noting this wouldn't be a cheap craft as the materials required will cost about 30-40k Rubles, I think it'd be fair than to either get 2-3 pipes for the craft to make up for how expensive they are compared to a F-1 for example.

Because these would not be comparable to F-1's they would have less explosive radius, less throw range and longer activation time because unlike hand grenades these do not have a pin you have to light the fuse and throw it. What the Pipebombs do have over the F-1 though is Shrapnel damage, because you are packing nails into the thing the shrapnel is far more damaging than the blast itself.

However due to their improvised quality Pipe bombs have some quirks with their fuses. Pipe bombs would have a variable fuses they also have a chance to be a dud where the Fuse fizzles out and they don't detonate.

Honestly though I can see where I may have gone a bit too far with balancing for these, they are already expensive to make and I can see people already saying "why would I use these over a F1?"

My ideas are not set in stone however so if you have any ideas how to make them more viable I'd love to hear them.

The other improvised throwable probably won't happen unless BSG wants to add in fire effects and damage.

Yes I am of course talking about a Molotov Cocktail, A Finnish classic for improvised warfare.

Simply combine a bottle of Vodka and Fleece fabric in your Lavatory and you will receive a Molotov.

In all honesty I don't see these being added, Molotov's in games are either super busted or incredibly lack-luster, Ideally they would work in a way where if you direct impact someone or a group of enemies with one that they would die instantly from being engulfed in flames, However I can see how this would feel extremely bullshit in a game like Tarkov when you get nailed by some dude throwing a Molotov and instantly get sent back to the menu.

there's also the question on how to balance the after effects of the Molotov, how long the fire should last and how much it should damage you for walking into it

Overall Molotov's are a nightmare to balance and I could see why BSG wouldn't want to add them into the game even if thematically they make sense, I mostly added this in because I knew someone would ask about Molotov's if I didn't.

What if you let BSG at least try to focus on actual problems instead of trying to build an entire new feature we don’t need.
