A couple of instances that were brought to my attention over the past month have compelled me to write this excerpt. I hope this isn't against the rules of this subreddit and I would welcome Dominants and submissives alike to weigh in and share their own experiences in this regard.

Incident 1: One of my long term subs was browsing the r/hypnohookup subreddit and came across a dom who had written a promising personal which in turn persuaded her to reach out to them because they mentioned something that was unique and spoke to her. While there were no red flags in the initial vetting conversation once the Dom had her under and was deepening her trance (which was easy because of how long she's been into hypnosis. The dom purposefully ignored preestablished limits and instead pushed to move her limits out of her conscious mind while she was under. Although she was able to resist this incident deeply scarred her to the extent that she doesn't want to try hypnosis anymore.

This is a clear consequence of how one bad apple can ruin our name as a community. And the sad truth is that this is surely no isolated incident.

I understand that there's a certain type of person who's attracted to erotic hypnosis as a kink. Potentially due to the 'absolute power' that representations of the act in media promises. It's important to remember that real hypnosis doesn't work that way. And all you're doing in 'trying to push past people's limits' is traumatizing them and ruining the fun not only for yourself but also for them and any fun future experiences they could have had. There's a reason you establish limits and safe words which push through even while in a trance.

To any potential submissives reading this. If your hypnotist doesn't establish safe words, it is a red flag. Make sure that you establish them yourself before you begin play.

Incident 2: There has been a rise in people using established hypno material, whether it be Written Inductions, Audio recordings or Videos. To trick submissives into believing that they are the original author and thus more adept at hypnosis than they might actually be. I cannot begin to express how disgusted I get when people who approach me speak of how they think they had played with me before only to find out it was someone using a fake profile pretending to be me. That makes me want to stop writing personals and Inductions just to prevent their misuse.

And even if you're using someone else's script make sure you understand it otherwise you might end up doing harm you don't even realize is occurring.

Erotic hypnosis is a facet of BDSM that is deeply established in trust. It takes great trust to allow someone inside your head. Respect that and only then can you hope to be a good erotic hypnotist.

I would love to hear your views on the matter.
