It is difficult to look past the Wassily Chair, also known as the Model B3 Chair, designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925 while he was still a student at the Bauhaus school in Germany.
It is made of bent tubular steel and leather, and its one of the first examples of furniture made with industrial materials. Breuer named it after his mate Wassily Kandinsky, a friend of Breuer's (and a Russian artist) who was one of the first people to purchase the chair.
The Wassily Chair is an absolute icon of the Bauhaus movement and with good reason still popular for its minimalist, functional design.
