Asking the ergo-enthusiats for their opinion since i recon you'll be able to provide some useful input.
A few months ago i bought and assembled my aurora lily58 and I'm absolutely in love with it. So much so, that I'd now like to have a split kb at work, too. Problem is, building that kb cost me around 300€, and I'd prefer to not spend that much again. I do have some switches left over from my previous builds, so I would need to spend as much on them, however the cost would still be substantial. I know you can 3d print and hand-wire something like a Dactly, however it looks like the jump from my current kb to a dactly would be just as far, if not farther, as the jump from a regular to my current kb. The wiring also looks pretty complicated/difficult to someone who just soldered for the first time on my lily58. I also feel like i need a number row, I don't think I could handle some of the really small boards I saw on this sub. And anyways, my goal is to get more comfortable with typing on a split kb, should I try to build a board as similar to my home board, or would you say that the model/layout doesn't really matter, as long as its split/ortho?
I'm sorry if these are questions you get asked a lot, I couldn't find a post on here that goes into detail though, most of them are only focused on building a split board cheaply.
Any input from you, either regarding recommendations on specific boards, or on what my priorities should be when choosing are very much appreciated.
P.S.: I do have a resin 3D printer at home and I think my uncle has a pla printer, which I'm sure he'd let me use for a few prints.
