In my recent re-read I realized how rediculous the Story of the Menoa Tree is.
So Linnea this cougar of an elf gets played by a younger elf. And when Linnea is cheated on she goes crazy and murders the young guy. Then she runs off and fuses with a Tree
1) This took place before the Elves bonded themselves with the Dragons; and as we know magic was not common amoung at the elves at this time So given the context that means Linnea must have been an INCREDIBLE magician if she was able to LITERALLY fuse herself to a Tree, and later the entire Forrest. Even for a Rider I imaging such a task would be very difficult. So for a single elf to do so ( and for it to be done during a time where elves were just as magically weak as humans) is an impressive feat
2) Why did the elves not attempt to punish her for her crimes? It’s stated that it took 3 days for Linnea to finish’s “ singing herself into a tree”. That’s plenty of time to track her down and throw her in jail It’s not like she was hiding. She was singing next to a Tree for 3 days. I’m just imagining the elf police just sitting around confused while an old lady sings to a Tree. Like wtf?
3) Why is the Menoa Tree such a big part of the Blood Oath Celebration? The story of the Menoa Tree has nothing to do with the Bond between Dragons and Elf ( which is supposedly what the holiday celebrates) so it’s weird for them to cherish this Tree so much ( especially given the fact that this Tree is actually just a crazy homicidal old lady)
