Looking for riding boots - best brands? Most comfortable?

5’6” man with 8.5 shoe size Looking for a pair of riding boots. I’d like black or dark brown.
I ordered a pair online and they came up so high that they restricted my knee movement and I couldn’t walk properly and it cut off blood flow to my lower legs. So, those went back.
Is there a way to measure myself? I’d like them up high enough around my calf, but I am also not super tall.
I am not an equestrian, I am just trying to wear the look of equestrian fashion.
