Looking to volunteer at a local equine therapy center, but not sure what to expect?

Post Body

Hey y'all! 18m in southern california who was raised in the norcal boondocks. I miss the sense of fulfillment I got working with animals, but it's been a couple years since I've worked as a ranchhand. I don't think I have the necessary skills anymore, nor opportunity to re-enter that workforce so i've decided to pursue volunteering in equine therapy. I have experience both working with animals and caring for folks with disabilities, so I think this would be a good way to find the fulfillment again.

For anybody who has experience with this:

What should I expect the environment to be like? What would my expectations be as a volunteer? I'm 6'6" and because of that it's not safe for me to ride most horses. As well, I only know about western tack and riding and nothing about english. Would those stand in my way?

Thanks for the help y'all
