this is my lovely pony’s (mild) club foot! my vet doesn’t seem concerned about his career and prognosis. he said that with proper hoof care and management he’ll be fine! my farrier - on the other hand - thinks that his career will be short lived. he’s had had his fair share of abscesses (from thin soles, that are managed with frequent farrier visits and pads). but my farrier thinks that if we don’t lower his heels and put wedge pads on that he’ll have lameness issues forever though i’ve heard different things about lowering the heels. my vet thinks that you need to shoe the foot nature gave him. and that’ll give him the best success. my farrier’s opinions are discouraging me as I hoped to have a career of lower level jumping (I have no ambitions to jump high lol) wondering what everyones experiences are with club feet?
