Post Body

I've owned my mare for a year now and still don't feel like I know enough to actually be a good horse owner.

Her previous owner (who I greatly respect) said I'm a thousand times better than many others, so I don't know, maybe I'm being hard on myself.

I've been riding for 17 years, have leased for 4½ before buying my mare and still I feel like I'm not qualified enough.

Logically I know I am doing everything I can and for those things I'm unsure about I can ask a vet or instructor. I just always have those thoughts that I should be more knowledgeable than I am, that to own a horse and do it well I would need even more qualifications.

Logically I know that I have more experience and knowledge than a lot of people who get their first horse, but I don't know, I can't shake this feeling that I'm not good enough for this responsibility.

Does that feeling ever stop? Will I ever feel like I'm qualified enough to actually be a good owner to my mare?
