The assistant trainer and I both filed complaints with our local animal control. Surprisingly, they took it very seriously. We sent emails with photos and other evidence (like a message from the barn manager telling the team to feed my horse a bunch of food so he didn’t look starved when he left) to them. The way TN works is animal control goes to the property to establish probable cause, and then the state’s agriculture department takes over to complete a full investigation. We are waiting to hear back.

Of all 6 employees this owner/trainer had, only 1 remains. The rest all quit due to either 1) what they saw or 2) what they experienced from the owner/trainer.

The owner/trainer caught wind that the assistant trainer and I were chatting, and she’s been panicking since. She definitely knows what’s coming down the line for her.

On a more positive note: my horse has gained probably 80-100 pounds in just 6 weeks since we left! Pic in comments 💙
