Hard mode/trick question: What color is my horse?
Comments

I already know the answer, just want to see some guesses! Hint: He is 100% foundation-bred Appaloosa.

Answer: He is genetically black! He has pretty extreme bronzing/color shifting, evident on his legs, which is not at all uncommon for Appaloosas and is also pretty sun bleached. Ee aa

I wish we had a better understanding of how these genes work! Neither of his parents have any amount of bronzing and none of his full siblings do either. It's so weird.

Color, not pattern!

I use RES and have you marked in fuchsia with "the other foundation app person" LOL

I could honestly rave about my guy all day, there is not a single thing I dislike about him. He has convinced a couple people that hate appaloosas that they actually aren't so bad. And he actually has a pretty good mane and tail for a 13 month old! They are the best and maybe extremely misunderstood.

I've shown you before! This is PLA Heart of a Chief. I think you and I are the only two actual foundation people on this sub lmao

And yes you are spot on, he is black! Bronzing goes wild
