Do you have data-driven or technology based grain/supplemental feeding resources to share?

Long story short, I have recently become more responsible for managing my horse's grain and supplements. Previously, all of these decisions were made by our old barn manager, and while I got the list from them before I left the facility, I don't know what the purpose of each is. A lot of them seem redundant, and also I think I want to transition my mare to more forage and less grain.

I'm interested in any kind of "Cronometer" type analysis for the different types of feeds she gets, and the ability to plug in different variables that might affect her dietary needs and help me make some informed decisions about how to supplement (ie local climate, exercise regimen, breed-specific needs, age specific needs, gender-specific needs, etc.). Does a tool like this exist? If not, are there any prebuilt "meal plans" out there?

To learn more broadly about the topic, are there any books, websites, or other resources you all recommend that might help me improve my general knowledge about equine diet management, less specific to my mare?

Since I know it's coming... Yes, I have a trainer who I like and trust, and have discussed this with them already. I'm looking to expand my knowledge base beyond that, and make an informed decision based on a variety of sources.

ETA: I wanted to share that in my own internet searching following this post, I found this page that provides a detailed overview of equine nutrition. Can't wait to digest this...

UGA has a free video series from 2023 on the basics of equine nutrition (scroll to the bottom of the page, and there's a workbook here) and there's also a 2nd part of this course coming up called Applied Equine Nutrition. You can join on zoom on Tuesdays from Jan 9 - Feb 13 at 6:30PM EST and it's $10 for the whole course!
