We're doing the Jec Ballou 30 day core workout course, it calls for so many raised poles! I didn't expect to have to sink so much money into poles and stuff just to do the course lol but we're getting by.
Thank you, she's an appy.
I like it, but it took quite a while to work up to it. From day 1 there is an expectation that your horse knows how to do maneuvers like turn on the haunches and leg yields. My horse is 26ish but she is also SUPER green, so I had to teach her a lot of things before we could even get started and some of it we still half-ass (like turn on the haunches, which is incredibly difficult for her - we might do 2 instead of 10).
It's a net positive that she had to learn how to do these things for the course but it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. The program is probably better suited for a less green horse. I think the exercises are fantastic for supporting an older horse though - the portion we've been doing is entirely at the walk.
I saw that idea but at 40lbs each that's a no go for me! I'd be exhausted by the time I get on.
