Recently hit a wall with corporate America… what do you non professionals do to afford horses? I currently am a mid senior level in digital marketing and make 6 figures but honestly am dead inside from 9-5. The only reason I do my job to afford all of my school debt, mortgage and my lease horse, which is an absolute steal because I pay less than 20% of my lease’s board but ride 4-5x per week. I have a joint bank account so I can’t really hide the cost of horses from my husband, so my equestrian habit is funded with a meager $250/mo.
Edit to add:
So total bills outside of horses is about $3,500/mo. I make 3x my husbands salary, but because of this, I’d be needing something that can cover all expenses, plus the fact that we are planning on having 2 kids (1 will be here in the next year hopefully) so we can’t afford something that doesn’t either have room for growth and promotion, or uncapped commission.
What do other non-professional equestrians do to afford horses? Need some future inspiration so when I take my maternity leave, I can maybe take the chance to start working in a new career path.
There's a lot of money in sales. B2B, not B2C.
