Im posting this to mostly temper any expectations I have, so I would love to hear mostly from people with firsthand experience (I’ve already googled a ton so I’d love answers from folks who have been through it).
I have a AQHA mare who just turned 20. Great health, never given birth. I love her. Her mother was my barrel horse growing up and her great grandmother was my dads college rodeo team horse. I had moved out of state for 12 years. In that time she was loved and cared for by my parents, but they did not have time to oversee anything other than her health. It’s not a perfect story but it is where we are. Nostalgia has me wanting to continue with a new addition.
Now I’m back and in our wiser years we adore each other. I now have the money to pay for embryo transfer and am checking out my choices although I think it’s likely I will take her to the 6666 ranch and have everything done there.
My question is, how should I temper my expectations? Has anyone gone through something similar? I know her fertility is on the way out so I’d like as much info as I can to support her. And if anyone recommends anyone in Texas, I’d love to hear that as well. Thanks so much in advance.
