Hey redditors - you all were so helpful last time when I had questions about navicular bone spurs. I am still on the hunt for my first horse and my trainer has found one for me to try. She did mention that the horse has had surgery for ocd in one stifle when he (or she) was 3 or 4 years old. The horse is 6 years old now and hasn’t had any issues since. I don’t want to waste anybody’s time by going to try this horse if the previous condition/surgery is a dealbreaker but the thing is - I don’t know if it is or should be? This is the first time I am buying a horse (I have been leasing so far) and I just don’t have enough knowledge about soundness and the severity of stuff like this. What do you all think? Should something like that be an instant dealbreaker (like the bone spurs on the navicular bone was with another horse I otherwise really liked) - or is this something more acceptable, considering that the horse has had no issues since the surgery?
Thanks so much in advance.
