Dating and meeting other young people as a mainline Protestant/Anglo-Catholic/High Church Episcopalian?
Post Body

Hi all,

Sorry if this is weird, but does anyone have trouble dating as a mainline Protestant or Anglo-Catholic/High Church Episcopalian/Anglican?

In high school, I went to a very Evangelical and conservative Korean Presbyterian Church before transitioning to a more mainline form of Presbyterianism and then the Episcopal Church (because it allowed me to remain a Reformed Protestant while incorporating high church and Catholic beliefs, plus I liked how open TEC was to lgbt Christians).

However most mainline Protestant churches seem to be “small” and full of old people. When I join a parish, I am often the youngest member (and I’m almost 30).

It also makes dating weird and complicated since other Christians I meet are more conservative evangelicals who hate my guts for “going against the Bible.”

Or they are Roman Catholics who are generally more understanding due to the existence of the Ordinariate, but can occasionally spew awful things about my friends who are trans or gay.

Other times I meet more liberal and progressive people who hate Christianity and the Church.

Sorry this is too weird for the subreddit.

I have a lot of friends who aren’t Christians or belong to different religions or sects, I guess I want to vent about the frustration and loneliness of being a progressive Christian and a high church Protestant/Anglican and how lonely it can be?

Especially regarding dating since it seems so many people feel I have my foot in two tents and should just go all in?

Thank you

I’m in the Los Angeles area btw, if that’s relevant
