Hi everyone! I've been praying the Daily Office more consistently lately, and I'm wondering what you guys do to add more "personal flavor" (for lack of a better term) to your prayer life, if anything. This doesn't have to be limited to the Daily Office.
Here are just some potential examples — do you pray in a special location? Light candles? Use icons (if so, how)? Include music (if so, what music)? Meditate (if so, how)? Are there any prayers you like to say throughout the day? (I sometimes say the Lord's Prayer or the Jesus Prayer throughout the day.) Are there any written prayers you like to use, outside of the BCP?
For example, when it says "Here may be sung a hymn or anthem" in the BCP, if I feel like singing, I sometimes pull something up from Spotify and sing along to the lyrics. I'm also trying to include brief periods of silent meditation. Furthermore, since I was raised in a tradition of spontaneous, unscripted prayer, I also spend a decent amount of time/effort on the "Authorized intercessions and thanksgivings may follow" portion of the Daily Office lol.
I'm curious about what you guys incorporate into your prayer! Hopefully we can take inspiration from each other.
