Getting ready to refinish

Gonna refinish this as I never really did like it. Had a look at serial number and 10 digits seems to be 88-89 Korea? Could Anyone with greater knowledge than I give me some info on this, are they considered rare? I've no intention of selling, I'll keep the neck pup, but never liked the bridge so I've a Seymour Duncan push pull pot job lying around I think I'll fit. Just curious, picked it up cheap many years ago and never thought about the serial before tbh
