What positives has epilepsy brought into your life?

Post Body

I see so many posts about everything awful that epilepsy has caused/done to people, which is totally understandable, as it's not exactly the nicest thing to deal with, to say the least.

I want to know about the positive ways that epilepsy has impacted your life. No comments like "absolutely nothing" or "epilepsy is nothing but a curse" like I have seen on other posts. I want to hear about all the different ways that epilepsy has made your life better, even if there are more negatives than positives. I'll start:

  • It has made me resilient and taught me to never give up, even when my own brain is working against me
  • It has shown me how supportive and caring the people around me are
  • It caused me to develop a great deal of insight into how I'm feeling, functioning, etc.
  • It exposed me to an academic field that I'm extremely passionate about
  • It helped me develop a deeper sense of empathy for everyone who suffers with epilepsy, neurological disorders, neurocognitive disorders, etc.
  • I don't think I would be the strong person I am today if it wasn't for having to fight epilepsy along the way

Your turn 😊❤

I’ve saved a bunch of money with not buying a car. With the surgery I’ve definitely learned to appreciate family more.
