Two types of epilepsy at the same time?
Post Body

Hello all,

I have had absence (petit mal) seizures since I was 12. I'm on gabapentin and lamotrigine, and I've tried a bunch of other meds. These help best with my seizures, but I still have multiple seizures a week. Anyway, I just turned 30 three days ago, and yesterday I was feeling very lightheaded and weak at work. I got up and fainted, was unconscious, and then had what looked like a tonic-clonic (grand mal) seizure. I had never had one before. I went to the E.R, and they didn't check my brain at all. I have a neurology appointment in two days, but in the meantime, I'd really appreciate some insights. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Does anyone have 2 or more co-occurring types of epilepsy? Has anyone gotten their first seizure as an adult? Or had absence seizures and then a tonic-clonic one? Could it be something else? Also, my head hurts a lot since yesterday.

Thanks a lot in advance. I'm just worried about what it could be or what could have caused it.
