Hello! I have epilepsy and I want to ask a general question... can anxiety about work, studies, emotional problems, etc. cause seizures? I notice that during periods with little stress (vacations for example) I have fewer episodes than when I am stressed and have more obligations. Does this happen to anyone else? How do you control it? I was thinking about putting together a strict routine that allows me to do my day-to-day without having to worry about how to "live it step by step" although obviously each day can vary relatively... greetings and thanks for reading!
There are many causes for seizures and everyone differs. For example mine happens after all the insanity is over and I sleep for an extra long time. Apparently it isn't the anxiety that causes it. It is letting my adrenaline get very low. Then it has the room to rise in greater amounts very quickly. I would sleep for 12 hours, get up and take a shower. It raised my adrenaline too quickly.
Other have it for all kinds of reasons. Doctors don't identify them very effectively. You need to identify your own triggers. Keep a seizure log. Write in it every day. After awhile you may be able to identify conditions that lead up to your seizures. It worked for me. I now take showers at night and it reduced my seizures by more than 75%.

Write in it every day. Just a few notes about what kind of a day it was. Was it stressful, did you get little or a lot of sleep, was it physically hard, mentally hard, socially hard, was it fun, was it sad, was it emotional, was it active. Things like that. This way you can read back before each seizure and try to find some common factors. Then you can try to avoid those. Good luck. :D
