It being a fresh diagnosis, dependance or the medication itself. Hang in there things might have to change and never return but you'll find a new way to be happy eventually. Nothing is permanent, nothing has to follow a pattern. Some of us can't have kids because we risk giving them epilepsy, some of us will never fit in. But with our limitations there also comes a freedom of mind most people don't have because they are living the rat race.
My epilepsy has made it easier to find who the real friends are. If someone is upset with me that they pick me up every time, then goodbye. Driving should not be a friend necessity.

I’ve been on over a dozen different meds in more than 25 years, I’ll take any combo! Fycompa has been a PITA with my insurance and pharmacy, but I haven’t been this seizure free in a decade.
