I’m having a grids and depths SEEG done then right after(literally like 3 days later) having my left amygdala and hippocampus removed. Meds weren’t working and they found out it’s because it wasn’t just epilepsy, I have MTS. My surgery got moved up from March 11th to February because my surgeon is moving to another state and hospital. So now I’m on a time crunch and honestly panicking 🫠
I’m working on setting up a spare bedroom for recovery that’ll be next to a bathroom with a mini fridge in it. They said my biggest risk is going to be falling from fatigue and infection. So I’m trying to make that as avoidable as possible with 3 dogs in my house. Did anything help you post operation that the surgeon didn’t think to mention? I’m getting body pillows because I’m a stomach sleeper and side sleeper, I obviously can’t do that after.
Any other ideas or words of wisdom I’m all ears for! I’m not really sure how to be okay with any of this. Or how you go into this okay knowing you come out of it with deficits. I don’t know how common it is, but my team told me I either need the surgery or I’ll most likely pass in my sleep from a nocturnal seizure leading to SUDEP within the next 5-10 years.
