I currently work at a pediatric facility for special needs kids and have been since I have had epilepsy. They did know I had seizures when I started and have been very lenient on the fact I cannot come to work if I am constantly having seizures in the morning.
I recently got the paperwork for their house FMLA and have been struggling to get the doctors to send in the paperwork to HR (completely and/or correctly). I got brought into the supervisor's office today and was told that HR has not gotten any paperwork from the doctor's office and if not given soon and miss another day, no matter the reason, I can be fired for missing too many days. Then got told I could be put into a room until they get a new person to fill that spot (note I am supposed to be giving 10-minute breaks and to not be in a room for a full day or I could have a seizure by noon from the stress).
I honestly have had the most seizures from working but I have a lot of personal debts to pay to necessarily quit (including a wedding, hospital bills, and soon an apartment and all other bills). I want to apply for disability benefits but am unable to get a phone at the moment to do so efficiently and I have no idea how long it will be before I get any kind of benefits. However, I have thought about working more at my second job, even though it is minimum wage and tips, instead of my current job and getting disability benefits.
So to all of the online members on r/Epilepsy that I don't know well, what are your thoughts on this challenge and how would you go about this?
