The importance of having a party ATK buff

So as we all know, every team comp generally wants to have the following at a minimum:

  • a DEF breaker
  • elemental shenanigans (i.e. tank, DPS)
  • ATK buff
  • cleanse/immunity/heals as fights require

Sorry if I didn't expand much on elemental shenanigans, but it's generally going to be something like if you're fighting Wyvern, you'll want Ice-elemental DPS (Kise, Sez, Karin, Chloe, etc.) and you'll also probably want an Ice-elemental tank (Angelica, Krau, Tywin, etc).

I've been playing on an alt account recently, probably about 3 weeks now. It seems kinda good, and has pretty much everything that people would want and suggest (e.g. Angelica, Achates, Kluri, Bellona, Cidd). But I find that compared to my main, it has one really lacking thing compared to my main: there is no chance for this alt account to ever get Diene. Having been using Diene a lot on my main account, that ATK buff void seems like a significant void to fill.

Thus said, I find that a good enough party ATK buff options outside of Diene are actually relatively rare. Off the top of my head:

  • Hazel: Basically the most accessible of the lot, due to being available in connection quests. However, I don't know if it's generally worth trying to run her as a Diene alternative (e.g. Diene Angelica, Diene Destina are two popular combinations, so I'd be running something like Hazel Angelica, Hazel Destina instead), I don't know if she'll ever be as tanky or as fast as SPD Diene (she has 8 less base SPD compared to Diene), but it's certainly worth considering, especially since she has an SC now.
  • Rose: also gives a small amount of CR (about 15%), and can be used as an Ice tank with Aurius. Only problem is being 4* base, can be hard to get.
  • Helga: a 3* base, so not too terribly hard to acquire, however as someone who has never used her before, I've heard opinions on her being quite squishy for being a Warrior, and her ATK buff doesn't last long enough for her to efficiently cycle through it (the difference of a 2 turn ATK buff vs. a 3 turn like Diene). I hear she's slated to get an SC some time soon however.
  • Yuna: IMO, probably the next best thing to an alternative to Diene. Also only has two turns, but I guess at least you can equip Infinity Basket on her and hopefully have higher overall DPS? Just a hell of a grind to get her.
  • Aramintha: Also 2 turns on her ATK buff. Also stupid rare because she is a 5* base.
  • Maid Chloe: If Aramamintha is stupid rare, she's practically non-existent unless one rerolls. Nat5 ML. She notably has 3 turns on her ATK buff however, but it also has 1 more turn of cooldown compared to Diene's.

I realize that comparing these units to Diene is really not fair - Diene is really a top tier unit on her own right. But as a side, I am also doing this to see if there are any options besides Diene because I'd like to think that Diene makes things so much easier, but she is never ever required.
