I run a very small arm to a large non-profit corporation. I am gaining valuable insight into running a small niche technology business, with little overhead and minimal oversight.
My boss is high on the relationship-based trust. He has retired from a successful business venture before. But he had been getting more and more and even more busy to meet with. So, I've been getting my mentorship and advice elsewhere. My boss has been supportive pretty much every time we meet. He's clear and direct. I'm doing a good job, despite the interruptions due to pandemic restrictions.
On the other hand, the new supervisor starts at this company and introduces herself as super nice and helpful. She's made small promises and then walked every one back almost immediately. I'm super confused by her goals all the time. It just feels like she's trying to shut me down but be helpful all at the same time. She seems to be wrestling with competing interests?
When meeting in person, it seems much easier to talk productively with her. But she doesn't have time to meet in person anymore.
I can be more specific, but I don't want to spend time writing this small uninteresting laundry list unless it's useful. Can someone please help me figure out how I can more effectively communicate with my new supervisor - or work around her to implement my business plan - or find a different job? lol which I was doing, but my boss convinced me to stay.
Please ask your questions 🤲
