Through my work as a digital marketer who specializes in generating sales for clients, clients from various different industries and markets will come to me wanting to get them sales.

While I may have an understanding of the market, I don't always proclaim that I know everything. In fact, it's actually just the opposite: I know nothing.

This is why I go about inquiring the market.

I look at who their customers are and price point of their product.

• If it's a low price point (let's say...less than $100 - even on a monthly basis), the sales cycle will have to be impersonal and quick to process.
• If it's a high price point, I would focus on making the sales cycle more personalized with a human touch.

NOTE: The higher the price point, the longer the sales cycle is going to be.

I look at the market and where it was, public sentiment (on reviews, social media, and even popular niched media (social media, memes, groups, YouTube), and upcoming trends that can arise when it comes in that market.

This is the basis of inquiry and it would have save me a whole of time on markets that wouldn't be worth my time.

Maybe your inquiry methods may be different from mine.

TL;DR: Please inquire about what your market is before getting invested in building a product (is the market growing; is this a market that is nice-to-have rather than need-to-have); small questions as such.
