Hello Entrepreneurs! Thanks for taking the time to read this and/or providing any insight or advice!
Soon i may have to part ways with my employer in which i do IT Tier 2/3 Support with, and make my side business (that ive owned since 2008) my full time project, it is still IT support . But due to the timing, i am not as prepped as i would like to be, but i still have a little time to make wise and strategic moves.
Quick back story as to why.. 3 weeks ago I severely sprained my ankle off the clock, and the sprain happened to be on the same leg i broke a few years back (lower leg). I went to the clinic and got it scanned- turns out I didn't need surgery, but received a boot and took PTO while nursing the injury. After a few days i felt pretty good and went out to go to a local pub for dinner and a drink. As i was leaving A man i've never seen before shoved me down to the floor (i was on a single step). Naturally my leg (the bum leg) tried to brace and immediately i re injured the leg, hit my head, and was rolling on the ground in pain. Since i couldn't walk, nor much less run, and i was in danger without the ability to fight or flight, i brandished a firearm. I didnt point it, nor didn't shoot, just brandished. Of course cops came, arrested me, charged me with a felony. 3 Days ago my company announced in a site meeting that they're now doing monthly background checks... so here i am prepping for the unknown.
While i was on PTO due to the RE-injury i took a call to a small business, long story short they were completely down on all terminals due to the server being down, after troubleshooting I got them back operational and left with $4,000 cash. This uplifted my spirit, and showed me a glimpse at my true potential and worth.
I'm the solo employee, and am looking for more business to business transactions - due to more money being involved, scale of fixes, and possible retention of my services. I live in a city with around 600,000 people and would like to aim to get a small business a day M-F. I would also like to aim for around (minimum) $500 a day.
Services i'd think that would be needed that i can provide are: Server setup, computer networking, WiFi hotspot mapping, W@H migration, On and offsite backup solutions, security implementation, and general technical consulting and offering solutions catered to their unique needs.
Businesses im looking to assist are:
(Hotels, Small Businesses, Law firms, Non-profits, Churches) usually groups where i can be their IT source. I'm Looking to do this full time M-S 8-Completion.
Current methods of approaching advertising (although i need to be more aggressive on them)
Facebook, Instagram, Banners, Business Cards, Flyers, Google Adworks, HomeAdvisor, Local Paper Ad, Website, Walk Ins with brochures. I'm thinking about direct targeting businesses with USPS mail, has anyone tried this?
Can anyone offer any suggestions of how i can meet these goals, any needs you see that are left out that i can implement and research? Any advertising ideas i could take advantage of? Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time for reading this!
