Getting an item manufactured in china, how likely is it that they will 'steal the idea'?

Post Body

So I want to move production overseas and have talked with a factory. One of my business partners is worried that once i send the sample to china, they will steal the idea and put us out of business.

Considering we've sold a lot of units so far, and we're currently cranking them out by hand, I'd rather move production and focus on sales. My thoughts are that if someone wants to copy us, they will, be it china or someone else buying a product and having it made.

Has this happened to anyone here where they've sent a sample out, only to have the factory turn into a competitor?
