tl;dr - I need to find one or multiple investors that will provide at least $1 million cash. They don't have to necessarily give me the money, but let me buy things with it to provide a significant ROI. I probably look like I am shooting for the stars, which I am. I can make it work though.
Edit: I am not in the weed business, nor do I want to be. I am in the music and convention business, and my work has not been solely in Colorado.
I am an event manager. I had a business partner that I worked with for several years. I handled the event planning, he handled investor relations, marketing, and sponsors. Whenever my partner would get his investors and sponsors on board I would take over and utilize their assets. From the bank account to the event floor I am king.
My problems lie solely on the fact I am 27. A lot younger than most event coordinators. I don't have a formal college education, but I have solid military experience that directly relates to event management. I have also assisted in two(4 full years) masters thesis projects that were focused on events and practices I use. The only event I have planned that didn't work out because my partner picked a primary investor that was eventually raided by the DEA. That made me split ties with my business partner, but now I'm a bit lost. The failed event was 20,000 people and my largest successful event has been 15,000 people. No real money was lost on the failed event, but I did end up losing the few investor relationships I had.
I am in good standing with all of the contacts I personally made. None of these contacts are the investor type. They are all services and products that make all of my events are awesome and run smoothly. I do not want to work through them to find an investor because I don't want to appear weak. My partner went to lots of formal parties, fundraisers and the like to meet the rich people. I don't know how to get invited to those. The timeline for my project is extremely limited. I fully expect a competitor to exist in less than 2 years from today's date, but if I can get the trigger pulled then I will have zero "real" competition.
I already built the plan for the event as if I already had an investor. I have over 400 printed pages of business plan, budget, invoices, reference material, first-hand anecdotal evidence, and research papers. It also includes 2 backup plans to insure than any money invested will not go to waste. I obviously am not going to drop an encyclopedia in front of an investor, but I want EVERY question he could have to have an answer. I feel like I can guarantee an ROI for an event. The only way it could fail is if I fail to plan.
I live in Boulder, and am surrounded by affluent people. How can I convince them to give me their money?
