So I recently got into windshield rock chip repair for a side hustle, I live in riverside county California.
I use to work at a company for many years fixing windshields. Recently one person posted in my community asking if anyone knew anyone who could fix a rock chip in his windshield. I replied to him, charged him cash. Since then I had like 15 people in 3 days message me, so I did those repairs for cash.
Anyways, since my inbox is blowing up, I think I need to launch this as a legit business.
Last year, I started an LLC for a print on demand company and then stopped doing the print on demand. I just found out I was supposed to pay an 800$ LLC tax 4.5 months after it was created. So I'll pay that when I get a letter. I didn't make any money.
Any ways my question is, what do I need to do to make my windshield company legit? Do I need an ARD? Do I make a DBA and attach it to my failed LLC and pay the 800$. Do I need general liability insurance? If I ruin someone's windshield I would just pay out of pocket. At most it would cost 1000$ on an expensive vehicle. Can I just type out a warranty, or do I have to pay someone to make the warranty legal?
I want my business to be legit, so I can operate legally, be able to advertise on Facebook, and be able to receive payment from insurances.
