The best advice I've heard may be advice that you don't want to hear
Post Body

It was a lazy Saturday and I was watching some danielmac vids because why not. He rolled up on some guy with a 7 figure car and asked him what his advice was for others who wanted to own something like that.

The owner said that a lot of people ask the wrong question. They ask him what they should do to get a car like him (eg. start a real estate company). He said that the real question that you should be asking is who you need to become to deserve something like that. Learn about successful people in your industry of choice. What are their strengths? How do your skills measure up? How can you come to possess similar strengths as them?

The problem with any advice that you receive regarding starting and excelling in business is that there is an X factor. Someone could give you their entire business plan including what product or service to offer, how to build it, and how to market it and there's a good chance that you'd fail. Why? Without understanding the person behind the engine and what personal qualities it takes to run that engine, it's either going to pile up on you or not fire at all.

TL:DR; Depending on who you are, you need to build yourself before you can build your business. This can substantially increase the lead time to success and is the reason why some of you may not wish to hear this. If you fail in business, you may determine that you're not good at business, which could be a false conclusion. It could be that your every day time management skills suck, for example.

Edit: Some guy reached out and asked me to plug his startup sub. I have 0 reason to say no.
