Those of you who are freelance consultants, or who own a consulting firm, what advice do you have for aspiring consultant entrepreneurs?

Post Body

I am about 6 months away from getting my MBA degree. Most of the consulting jobs are in places I really don’t want to move to. (Chicago, New York, Virginia, etc). I’m entrepreneurial by nature and am interested in freelance consulting or starting my own consulting business. Any tips on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Current business plan looks something like this: -finish MBA (don’t have time for much else as I also work in management full time) -basically work a part-time unpaid job of studying several hours each day (management consulting books & whatever areas I need to learn more about) -actually start the business -build social media presence That’s like a general overview of my plan. I would also like to say I’d like to keep my current 9-5 until It makes sense to leave. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Would love to learn more about what works for you all!
