Hello All,
I come from IT background, so I have experience with programming and other IT-related disciplines. I have worked in the insurance, and medical tech industries so far in my career. I like solving problems and coming up with easily portable solutions with better utility. But I have seen that in order to be able to solve a problem, I need to have deep knowledge of the domain that the problem exists in.
For example, if I wanted to solve a problem about particular fraud detection and prevention in insurance, I need to have deep knowledge about the problem such as who is affected, how much money it costs the industry every year, etc.
How am I supposed to acquire this kind of domain knowledge? Does anyone have a similar experience as mine? Is working in the domain of interest for years the only solution?
Thanks!
