We had a small nest start in the mailbox and so had to move it. We kept the queen with the nest in a jar for a day (since it rained the day after removing her). And now the queen has flown off and left behind a small nest with a few eggs.
- Did she really leave or will she be back?
- Since we had to remove the nest, it is not in a normal hanging position. Would the best option be to tie some strong thin string around the stalk of the nest and tie it to something?
If she did leave: 1. One of the cells with an egg is damaged, but there is another cell that looks good, is there a way to transfer the egg to the other cell so it doesn't fall out? Or would it be easier once they are larva? 2. Is it possible to care for the larva once they hatch? If so, what to feed them? 3. What should I do? Would another nest adopt them? Or will a new queen be named? 4. Will the old queen make a new nest?
