Karen demands I open a box for a missing part.

So I work at a Walmart and I deal with different types of people and once in a blue moon I get a Karen. Now one night while I was working in my area one of the new girls came up to me and asked where a manager was. I asked her what it was about and she tells me there is a woman on the phone wanting to speak to a manger. I go to the phone to see what the woman wanted because most of the time it’s stuff that a normal worker could answer. So I go to the phone and the woman on the other end starts off nice. Karen:hello I bought a futon from your store and I’ve been working on it since 2 this afternoon (it’s 7pm when she calls) and I have one missing part is there anyway I can buy that part? Customer service isn’t answering their phone.

Me:is it a screw that you are missing?

Karen: no I’m missing a pole.

Me: I’m sorry but we don’t sell the parts for it. Was the box opened when you bought it?

Karen: yes the box was opened.

Me: did it have a yellow sticker on it?

Karen: yes

Me: then that was an open return that someone didn’t check if everything was in box. You can come back to exchange it for a closed box you will have to pay the difference because the one you bought was on clearance you would just have to pay the difference.

Karen: there is no yellow sticker on the box and I paid full price.

Me: okay? you will just come and exchange it for one that is fully closed.

Karen: why can’t I just get the part? I’m visiting from New York,I don’t want to sleep on a air mattress and I’ve been at this since 2.

Me: we don’t sell the parts separately.

Karen: then open a box and get me the part.

Me:we can’t do that.

Karen: so I have to take this apart shove it back into the box and bring it back?

Me:yes and you can bring it in tomorrow morning because my customer service is closed at the moment due to short staffing. That’s why you couldn’t get a hold of anyone.

Karen: why can’t you just open a box for me and get me the part I’m missing?

Me: because I’m not allowed to open any closed boxes. (Proceeds to ask me this for the next 15 minutes and my answer was still the same)

Finally asks a different question.

Karen: can I open a box and take the part I’m missing?

Me: no that is theft.

Karen: I don’t understand why you can’t open a box for me and give me the part I need.

Me:because then that box will have a missing part and we won’t be able to sell it.

Karen: that’s not my problem my problem is that I’m missing a piece and you are about to loose money from me if you don’t give me the part I need.

Me: bless your heart I’m so sorry that you don’t understand what I’m saying. I can not give you the part you’re missing you will have to exchange it at customer service it’s the only thing I can tell you. No one is opening a box for you because you bought a open box.

Karen: do you know who i am?!? I demand you open a box and give me the part I’m fucking missing!!!!! Or else you will loose me as a customer!!!! GIVE ME MY PART! IM NOT TAKING THIS APART TO JUST BUILD ANOTHER FUCKING ONE!!!!

(At this point I’m done with her)

Me: are you shaq?

Karen: do I sound like a black man?!?!

Me: well you definitely haven’t spent more then that man has sooo honestly loosing you isn’t going to be a lot.

Karen: how much has that man spent at a Walmart? I bet it’s not over 1500 I’ve spent 2000 at a Walmart. Bet you haven’t seen that before

Me: he spent 70,000 dollars at a Walmart and the most I have seen 3000 dollars on my register and you don’t sound like you came from Germany.

Karen: GIVE ME THE PART I NEED OR I WILL CALL CORPORATE!

Me: I’m sorry m’am but I can not do that I have told you what you can do I’m sorry that I don’t know who you but that’s not going to change store policy. You can try calling a different Walmart and see what they say.

Karen: YOU’RE THE 3rd WALMART IVE CALLED!!!

Me: so you didn’t buy it from my store?

Karen: I BOUGHT IT AT YOUR STORE THE OTHER STORES WONT LET ME GET THE PART IM MISSING. SINCE I BOUGHT IT THERE I SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET THE PART THAT IM MISSING!!!!!!

Me: sorry still not going to do it.

Karen: are you the store manager?

Me: no I’m just here to get information for my manager because they are currently busy.

Karen: IM COMING DOWN THERE AND IM TAKING THAT PART!!!!

She hangs up the phone and I’m looking at it like it’s nuts. I told my manager what happened and said that she might call back to complain. He said she could but she’s not going to find that futon. I asked him why and he said that someone ordered the last one we have and we won’t be getting more for a month.
