since i posted that karen story about a month ago i told my friends about it and they said i should probably start telling all my random disney stories that i have since i no longer work for the mouse. now i worked at the popcorn and icecream carts that are there and honestly it was one of the best jobs i have had and if i had to do it all over again i would. Especially since i worked at the most beloved theme park there magic kingdom or the karen kingdom. I swear that park gets more karens than any other park in orlando. Just like any other theme park there is going to be some kind of trouble from a ride not working right to even having a late shipment of product that we need for the day and this was a mixture of 1 ride not working and a parkwide register blackout where we couldn't take any electronic payments from cards to the meal plan that guests could get from their hotel so n we went old school and was asking for cold hard cash until the registers were working again. i was taking orders at the popcorn wagon that is infront of the very popular and very controvesial ride the jungle cruise while my partner was doing the math and taking the money from guests who were waiting for me to get their product. inbetween guests i would have a announment for the line saying, " Excuse me ladies and gentlemen due to a parkwide blackout we can not take any cards or magic bands that includes the meal plans we are only accepting cash at the moment but we should have the system back up and running soon thank you."
i had said this maybe about 5 or 6 times to the point you could see a dad in line saying with his eyes like okay we get it cash only. i keep taking guests orders when a gentleman comes up and orders alot of stuff so my coworker tells him his total and the man proceeds to say, " I'm going to put it on my meal plan." and places it down on the magic band reader that isn't even on and isn't in it's normal spot to be used. now this man was in line for the 5 times i have said over and over again we are not doing any kind of electronic payment that includes any meal plans. he didn't have headphones in so i know he must have heard me.

"i'm sorry sir but we are not accepting the meal plan right now due to a parkwide blackout but the system should be fixed within the hour, right now we are only taking cash payments." i said to him,

right when i get done his neck starts to twitch and proceeds to yell, " WHAT....DO.... YOU .....MEAN YOU ARE NOT TAKING THE MEAL PLANS I PAID OVER 1,000 FOR THE MEAL PLAN AND I DEMAND TO USE IT!"

"Again sir i'm sorry but we can not accept the meal plan at this time. I have made that announcement to the the line that we are not accepting any electronic payments that includes the meal plan i'm very sorry about the inconvenience but you can....." he cuts me off.

"I DEMAND A REFUND IF I CAN NOT USE THE MEAL PLAN RIGHT NOW I DON'T WANT TO WASTE MY MONEY!!!!" he shouts to me.

"again i'm very sorry but if you have any complaints you can go to city hall that's in the front of the park and see what they can do for you we do not control the meal plans and do not give out refunds here for the actual meal plan."

i swear to god by this point he had a vain sticking out from his neck and if he wasn't wearing sunglasses i think his eyes were twitching just as bad as his neck was twitching. "WHAT AM I GOING TO DO UNTIL THEN?!?!?!?! HOW LONG DO I NEED TO WAIT TO USE THE MEAL PLAN?!?!?!?!"

"you can use cash for this payment and get a refund at city hall for the icecream and drinks and they can take it off of your meal plan for you." i said in my best disney voice.

"BUT I WANT TO USE IT RIGHT FUCKING NOW!!!!!!" he shouts like a angry 5 year old who was told no.

"again we can not use it right now because we have no way of taking it off of your meal plan." i said to him still using my disney voice.

"SCREW THIS I"M GOING TO UNIVERSAL STUDIOS AND USING MY MONEY THERE THIS PARK IS A SCAM!!!!" he shouts as he takes the stroller he's pushing and storms right off. i saw how much people we had in line and i just felt bad about what had happen so for the remaining people who were in line for the whole event i just told them it was on the mouse and told them to have a very magical day. for the 3 years of working for the mouse i have never seen anyone else really act like that or even at the current job i am at and honestly it still a funny story to tell.
