I used to work in a grocery store and this guy came to buy cigarettes from the express counter. But there was one fatal flaw in his plan.
My town has a drug problem, specifically with high school students and we noticed that behind him while he was buying cigarettes, there was like five or six kids from our high school. Then this conversation ensues.
Cashier: I’m sorry I don’t feel comfortable selling tobacco to you today.
Customer: why??!! I’m of age!
Cashier: I go to school with the kids that are with you.
Customer: So? They’re for me, I’m not going to give the cigarettes to them.
Cashier: I still don’t feel comfortable selling to you.
Customer: Fuck you! Where is your manager.
(Manager comes over)
Manager: how can I help you?
Customer: this idiot won’t sell me cigarettes even though I’m of age!
Manager: well there are six kids with you that don’t look like your children and all look to be under 18 (before T21 act). He was completely justified in refusal of sale. Sorry.
Customer: fuck this place I’m never coming back!
Manager (sarcastically) maybe someone else will sell you cigarettes.
It was quite the scene!
