Ordering online doesn’t mean you get special treatment
Post Body

I work at a fried chicken restaurant, unfortunately we are not doing too well but that’s beside the point.

The company website states that all locations offer curbside pickup, this is not true as we never have enough people working to provide all of our services so we can only feasibly work the drive thru.

We received an online order and when people order online they have a tendency to go crazy and order like $50 worth of chicken, and this order was no exception. Two 8 piece meals (around $24 each at my location) in total that’s 16 pieces of chicken, 4 sides, and 8 biscuits.

Shortly after the order was made this bright blue crappy looking Mitsubishi Sudan from 2002 pulls into our parking lot. A man looking like he was in his 20s gets out of the car and tries to get in. (Our door was locked because of COVID-19 and lack of employees) he then yells at me through the drive thru window “hey! How the hell am I supposed to get my food?” I told him that he needs to go through the drive thru. He responded with “really? Unlike these idiots I ordered my food online, and now you are going to make me wait in this line?” He got back in his car and called us. We were too busy to answer the phone. He then pulls out of the parking space and his wife screams “answer your damn phone!” They called us six more times and then pulled through the drive thru.

Once they got to the intercom, this ensued

EW: we ordered our food curbside.

DTA: we can’t do curbside at this location

EW: it’s on your website

DTA: we have no control over what the website says

EW: why couldn’t you answer your phone?

DTA: we can’t answer during dinner rush.

EW you could’ve had that fuckhead (me) give us the food or answer the damn phone. Instead of giving your other idiots their food

DTA: just pull up to the window.

They pulled up and I gave them their lard bags and they drove off with nothing more than a thank you.

As someone who has worked in food service for a while I see these people all the time. People need to realize that fast food workers are people too, and not things to poke until they give you your food for free.
