Lady assumes we are discriminating her by not letting her in the theater after the play has started.
Post Body

This is a cross-post since I wanted to share this story in another sub, it's one of the most entitled ones I've got. And I've been working a lot with customer service, so you can expect some more good stories.

I'm currently working in a theater as staff, my work involves customer service 100%, 24/7, and if that wasn't enough, the theater I'm working in is located in the "rich" part of the city, and most people that go there are supposed to really like going there and being huge theater nerds. We ocassionally get some entitled brats who try and be smartass and it can be either be a group of chads and karens, or we can get lucky and just shoo them away with a "no".

Okay, so if you're not a TheaterNerd, you need to know the most basic common courtesy rule of going to a theater play: You can't go in if you show up even 5minutes late. It's super disrepecful to everyone: actors and public.

We even have a cute owl-like placard (since the company logo's an owl) right in front and in the middle of the main entrance that explicitly says "We would not let you enter the theater if you show up late". This means that even if you had bought tickets, no matter the amount, you can not reschedule them for another day, we won't give you back your money, you won't be able to watch the play and you'll need to buy new ones if you want to come back another day.The hour that the play is scheduled to start isn't really the actual start hour, we normally start letting public in at that hour, and wait until most of them are seated (We know how many tickets were bought and count how many tickets we have clipped to know how many people we're missing, and it's usually like 2 or 3 that don't show up per play), once the numbers of tickets clipped and the number of tickets bought kinda match, we then give green light to start the play. This process takes about 10 to 15 minutes, so it gives people running late time to actually get in time, and if they arrive a little after we've closed the doors, and the play hasn't started, we usually let them in.

Now that I've explained this, let's move on to the story:

This particular day, we had a play that sold-out, wich means we had to have about 247 clipped tickets. People goes in, sits, it's been 20 minutes past the start hour and we're still missing like 23 tickets, this means we need to wait for this 23 persons to show up before closing the door and letting the play start. We wait another 5 minutes until our manager calls and tell us to let it go and just close the doors. So we do.5 minutes after we closed, a group of 3 comes rushing in asking if they can come in. I'm outside with 2 other co-workers, and since they approach me, I'm the one who grabs the tickets and check them.

Now, we are super strict with the late rule, but we might let them in depending on 4 factors:

1- If they're still within the 15 minutes after the play has actually started.
2- If they're being nice
3- If their seats are close enough to the doors or far enough of the stage so that they can sit withouth making too much noise and without disturbing anyone.
4- If the play isn't that easy to interrupt. (this means that if the play is a super dramatic one with lots of sad and intimate momments, it is super easy to interrupt it.)
They need to match 4/4 factors for us to bend the rule, if not, fuck off.

They did not match the seat factor and the play was a drama, and I explained to them our policy of not letting late people come in and explained why we do that. They seemed pissed but eventually accepted it and started asking me some other stuff. As I'm talking with them, more people comes rushing in and eventually we're buried in about 22 late people demanding to be let in, even the ones we had talked down, but all it took was an entitled lady to set it all on fire.

The 23rd missing person arrives. It's an old lady. It's a relative of the actress (pretty famous one here in my country) that was currently in the middle of the play. It's super rich and looks like she was never said no in her entire life. She's a frequent in the theater. Me and another co-worker lurk away out of fear of telling this lady that she's almost 40minutes late and that she can't enter just as the remainer co-worker is walking back to the only seat we have and is cut by this lady.

EL= Entitled Lady CW= Co-worker that doesn't take shit Me= Pretending I don't work there

EL: Excuse me, I have tickets to this play. Can you please guide me to my seat?
CW: No, I'm sorry lady but I can't let you in right now - Takes out phone to show her the time - It's been almost 40 minutes after the play started and it ends in 20.
EL: Yes, I am aware of that, but I paid for this ticket and it's my right to go in.
CW: That would be a bother to both the public and the actress, and we can't have you interrupting everyone like that. As you can.... - get's cuts off -
EL: Do you even know who I am??? [The actress] wouldn't mind at all (She would totally mind), she knows I'm coming today and wouldn't even bother to watch me sit down.
CW: As I was saying, as you can read in the owl outside, right in front our door, it clearly states the we will not let you in if you're late, and it's a common theater rule that everyone knows about, and if you don't know, you'll read it as you enter since it's right in front of you.
EL: Are you calling me stupid and unable to read? Who do you think you are, disrespecting an elder, and also stealing money from me - she looks around, and raises her voice so now everyone is paying attention to them - and stealing all of this people money's, you should be ashamed to represent such an awfull and thieving company. YOU WILL LET ME IN; OR GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK.

Hell broke loose, I don't even remember all of what happened because there were just too much screaming, complaing, and insulting involved that I wasn't even trying to calm them down, I was trying to calm myself down to not snap at all of this people calling me horrible names. At one point I swear someone was about to slap me and just told them "shhh, if you scream too much, you may interrupt the play" in the most confussed voice I've ever used and they seemed to be calmed or confussed by that. My manager appeared, everything was fine for a minute or two, she said she would talk to her manager about refunds and dissapeared again. The crowd sat down. While we're waiting, this fucking lady stands up AGAIN and goes to the same co-worker, who I should say was the only male of us, and straight up loudly tell him:

EL: I finally figured it out, you're discriminating me because of my gender. That's why you treated me that way. I want an apology.
CW: What? No. I spoke to you and told you the exact same thing that we tell everyone that came late.
EL: Bullshit, I know your game you discriminating kid. - at this point, I, a female, approach her.
ME: Lady I believe you've got the wrong idea. The theaters rules are that we can't let anyone in if they're late, this has nothing to do with gender. [the actress] herself asked us to NOT let anyone in after 5minutes the play started.
EL: (COMPLETELY IGNORES ME, and keeps talking to my co-worker, she doesn't even look at me as I'm talking) I'm taking this up to corporate level so they know not to hire male chauvinists. And I will be there when they hand you your "you're fired" letter.

My co-worker and I give up at this point and just turn our backs on her. Luckily, my manager appears again to save the day, tells everyone that there won't be a refund because blahblahblah, people are angry but leave anyway. I feel kinda awkward as I swear they are breaking the tickets loudly in my ear and in my face. And the old lady is the last one to leave. She grabs my manager, asks her name, stands right in the middle of everyone who works there and while directly looking at my male co-worker says super angrily to my manager.

EL: Even though you said no to me, I want to congratulate you in front of everyone for doing your job right, not like your other employees. You are doing a great job lady. Good evening. - And storms off.

That was the most passive-aggresive entitled congratulation I have ever witnessed in my life.
