Thereās nothing wrong with āabnormalā though. The definition of abnormal is ādeviating from the normal or averageā. Professional athletes have abnormal levels of strength for example. If you just replaced normal with āaverageā or ācommonā, doesnāt that put us back in the same argument? A specific animal is not always a positive evolutionary adaptation too. In some cases, the genetic variance results in a trait that reduces an animals likelihood of survival and thus gets selected out over time. I suppose that I could see how there might be some negative connotations, but are we supposed to ignore that some variants are more common than others?
