What should I say when I want to move on or return to a previous topic besides 'anyway'?
Post Body

I use 'anyway' too much and I think it's lower the quality of my speech.

Comments

"Anyway": 'enough side bar let's return to topic'. This is good if the conversation drifted into unrelated topics. Example: making plans for the weekend. Friend sidebars into their trip last weekend with their boyfriend.

"Which brings us back too": 'this side bar reenforces what we were talking about. Which is topic' good if the conversation stayed close to topic, but is drifting slightly. Example: making plans for the weekend, friend sidebars into activities they don't like.

"Let's focus": 'this sidebar is unrelated and unwelcome.' good if someone hijacks the conversation. Example: making plans for the weekend. Someone starts to talk about the art they sell and how you can view and purchase it.'

There are plenty of others that can be used, and interpretation can very. Especially on how you say it.
