Hi /r/engineeringstudents.
I've had a pretty shitty (literal) summer co-oping with a contracting company that rebuilds sewage and water treatment facilities. I like my direct supervisor and all my co-workers, but this isn't for me. I'm not interested in construction (project management yes, construction no), the things I do at my job quite frankly suck, and I don't like the area I work in.
Basically, I'd like to search for a better co-op for the next two rotations. I'm looking to do something bio-mechanical or automotive- its much more tailored to my skills, interests, and studies.
Anyway, I need to know how to resign properly but there's a few weird things going on. The company isn't local so I can't just schedule a meeting with the big boss and talk to him because my last day, I move out of my apartment after work, drive home, and start class in the next two days. I do not work in the main office, which is 2 hours northeast, when I have to go west to school. The big boss is the guy who interviewed, hired, and trained me, but didn't recognize me at a company picnic and didn't know I was an employee. So I'm irrationally holding a grudge and don't want to talk to him. All in all, I don't really know what to do. How do I resign properly? Anyone have any experience with this?
