Brother and I have a buggy project and bought a used but good looking 305 off the marketplace. After a month or two we finally put together enough time to get it all back together and ready to crank. Today I went out and adjusted the distributor which finally made it crank. However I left #1 spark plug out of place accidentally. It still fired up and after about two seconds it locked and put a very nasty crack in the block. Is it possible that the #1 cylinder without a spark plug would cause such a massive failure in such a short amount of time, or did we just buy a bad motor?
