Recently acquired a BBC MK4 with a Th475 from an 89 winnebago. It's done 28,000 miles so I'm not going to be rebuilding it but as a total noob to v8s and turbo 400s I'd like to ask you fellas what can be done to release some horses and what the realistic limits of stock components.
The engine is 4 bolt mains, cast crank, oval heads....I've junked the manifold and carb and sourced an edelbrock performer 2 and a Rochester 800cfm carb from a swap meet.
The engine is partially dismantled for inspection and everything looks brand new....I will be port matching and maybe some de-shrouding.of valves but that's as far as my plans go so far.
The real reason for this thread is cam choice...I don't know what the engine will rev too in its current form but I believe the cam limits things to 5.5k range.....what would be the best bang for buck cam choice for bone stock engine to release revs and power.
I plan on putting this setup into my G-Wagen w460, it's the perfect engine/trans for hoonage in a truck.
So recommendations on cams?
Thanks for reading 👍
