I was talking with a friend and I want opinions. This isn’t a serious post so I didn’t want to post on the r/engagementringdesigns.
Since I’m a guy I would most likely be the one buying this hence I think I would be a little picky but not too materialistic.
I think the first ring in platinum would be a nice base. however, instead of tiny diamonds I’d rather them be black tourmaline. Same cut as the second pick or maybe even a hexagonal cut. But instead of a middle band I’d rather have a rose gold and ruby center. It’s my birth stone and my favorite shade of gold. For price tho I wouldn’t mind if it was only plated and lesser quality rubies. If it lasts and the fakes are good quality I’d rather save money and spend it on my partners rings. I don’t want any thing in the space where the big ring is that way it makes a good frame if the two rings are welded together in the future.
My friend had a few thoughts on things tho. First was that I’d be losing stones since they are small and many. Second is that resizing would be a night mare. Third was that on my darker skin the black wouldn’t pop as much as a plain sliver band. Their last comment which kind of irked me was that a black ring is for mourning and a space In the ring is a bad symbol for marriage.
My response was that I wouldn’t want the gems to wrap all around anyways and instead leave a large plain spot of all three bands. My other comment was that the platinum would be just fine and stand out just as my dads do. There’s nothing I can say about the other comments really.
I wanted more opinions on this dream ring. Also please lmk if you have seen something similar I would like to add it to the collection of inspo pics!
