Do we like the oval or elongated cushion? I'm agonizing over it, please help!

Post Body

My partner and I visited a custom jeweler yesterday. I've been so set on an oval but I fell in love with the elongated cushion and now I don't know what to do lol. I would really appreciate some opinions!

The stones pictured are pretty much all too big for me but I like the ratios. Whatever I choose will be set in a rose gold solitaire with claw prongs.

Here's my conflict: - I've loved the oval for YEARS and so I know my attraction to the oval isn't being influenced by trends, I'm not as confident about the EC.

  • The EC is more brilliant than the oval, but also more expensive. I'd have to go up in carat size to get the look I want but I also feel kinda weird about having a ~2ct diamond for daily wear, like who do I think I am? I'd probably go slightly less than 1.5ct with an oval.

  • I can't tell which one looks better with my planned stack because they're so similar but have different vibes. Is one more casual than the other? Can I be an old lady with an EC or does an oval make more sense in that context lol

  • I'm probably going to change up my bands many times throughout my life and I feel like I might have more options with the oval

  • Despite my love for ovals, I do feel slightly more drawn to the EC. To me it just looks like it belongs on my hand whereas the oval just looks like an oval.

I don't really feel like I can go wrong either way which is making this even more difficult! I wish my partner would choose for me but he's intimidated by my passion and won't risk disappointing me 🙃
