I had my first laparoscopy on Thursday, after knowing for years that my ovaries was were full of cysts, and finally finding a doctor who did indeed believe something more might be going on with me. (Dr. Senapati, just outside of Chicago, in case anyone needs a recommendation! She was wonderful!!) and, surprise, my 15 years of cysts and horrific gory periods were in fact endo.
I'm already in so much less pain after surgery than I was before. That being said, I don't feel great. But I've been getting up and moving around, trying to eat more normal meals, and starting to back off the norco (still no poop, which probably isn't helping with the abdominal pain!).
I haven't had much bleeding post-op, although I did have some significant clots today. I seem to remember a nurse telling me not to use tampons during recovery but I'm a little fuzzy...any reason not to? I'd assume risk of infection if not changed promptly, but the thought of having underwear squeezing my tummy sounds pretty awful.
Aside from that, the whole experience has been pretty positive. I'm happy to have answers, rather than being brushed aside as I've always been. It's nice to be heard!
