I do not have the musical education to properly describe the music itself, nor what I love about it, but I will try. Each instrument in the song has its own positive, energetic and celebratory mood. And though they play together elegantly most of the time, sometimes they play on top of each other to produce an array of sounds that become almost slightly too busy.
I submit that this is because though the notes play to the same tune, they play despite each other, not because of each other. But they still sing for a common cause. They each sing an ode to their Mother.
Being busy hence reinforces the happy playing of the instruments, for it suggests that though they each sing an ode to their Mother, each wants to sing it best, to sing it loudest, to please their Mother and win her favour. Meanwhile the ode is sung with odd instruments - an alien combination to our human years. But this is suitable, for the Mother to whom we sing is alien to us humans, yet we shall get to know her.
To understand our Mother, you must know first of Glassteel. Glassteel is a resource extracted from vines growing on the planet Auriga, who is the Mother to who we sing. Glassteel is a vine that can be processed in a similar fashion to the tanning of a hide, to yield incredibly strong filaments with profound architectural and industrial uses. It is not uncommon, nor is it the only natural resource that abounds on Auriga. Abundant metals cover the planet, including large quantities of exotic metals with unique properties enabled by magic. There are spices that enhance people's innate magical powers, blood that has profound healing properties, and tea that makes people better thinkers with no side effects.
And yet the magic is not magic, for the 'Dust' which grants Heroes their powers is in fact a cloud of intelligent, self-replicating nanobots. Nanobots which make their homes on Auriga because her children, The Endless, made them. Nanobots that are, therefore, Auriga's descendants.
And with the help of her descendents, with Dust, Auriga makes beautiful things. Her soil teems with abundance, her forests and her fields are littered with life. Dozens of intelligent species make their homes upon her ground, and each knows of a world shaped by Auriga's efforts, a world shaped to be friendly to them, to help them not only to live and breed comfortably but also to progress, to become more sophisticated societies, as if Auriga's children are destined to once again spread among the stars.
The children sing an ode to their mother, because she loves them and crafted the world for them. Because Auriga is life itself. She may be have been ruined and scourged of life once, but she will not surrender. She will fight for life. Life will flourish again.
Never before have I so admired the beauty of life and nature then when I look through the lives of an Aurigan, and sing an ode to our Mother, Auriga.
